Tears Are Flowing In My Eyes For Haiti Again Poem by Hebert Logerie

Tears Are Flowing In My Eyes For Haiti Again

Haiti is a country that I love dearly
That's where I was born
That's where I took my first healthy breath
That's where I had my first inspiration
That's where I saw the first birds
There I saw the first beautiful flowers
That's where I saw the first ravishing women
That's where my interesting life started
Haiti, I need not rhyme nor chime
To express my deep loving feelings for you
Haiti, I love you so, so much
You are my mother, you are my father
Tears are flowing on my face for Haiti again
The news about Haiti is dismal, very sad
The news about Ayiti is never good, very bad
Haiti is about gangs, misery, corruption, and death
We see the bad news in the videos daily
It's bad and awful news we hear at night
It is bad things that we see and hear all day long
When I see how the officials rob, loot the country
How Haiti is pillaged, exploited and wasted
How her own children spat and shit on her
How countless countries plotted, conspired against her
Ignored, dismissed and humiliated Haiti and Haitians
Numerous hurricanes have devastated Haiti
Countless earthquakes have ravaged whatever was left
Haiti is now the land of crime, poverty and misery
Haiti and Haitians are brave, courageous, and resilient
Tears are flowing on my face for Haiti again
Tears have erased my smile and its shadow
I asked God for strength. My tears are melting again
When I see how Haitians hate Haitians
How Haitians are killing other Haitians
How Haitians are burning and destroying
How Haitians put down and mistreat their own country
Tears, salty water cannot stop flowing in my eyes
I have not resided in Haiti for a long time, however
My absence does not mean that I do not like or miss Haiti
Many proficient and progressive Haitians live outside Haiti
Many of us have no choice, many of us
Have to stay away because we have no choice
This river flowing on my face cannot be stopped
Haiti, Haiti is a country that I love dearly
Many Haitians shame Haiti, at times, some of us
Are ashamed to be called native Haitians. I'm praying for Haiti
Many of us are weeping, crying for Haiti
Too many criminals are looting and burning Haiti
Many Haitian presidents have plundered Haiti
Many Haitian senators have plundered Haiti
Many Haitian lawmakers have plundered Haiti
Many ministers or authorities have plundered Haiti
Many state employees have plundered Haiti
Haiti is now nobody. Haiti has now nobody
Haiti is no longer a beautiful woman
Haiti is no longer a beautiful mother
Haiti is no longer a beautiful person
Haiti is no longer the Pearl of the Antilles
Haiti is now a dump, a dumpster full of trash
Haiti is swamped with dangerous gangsters
Thieves are everywhere and running things
Tasteless water keeps on flowing and blinding my eyes
I love Haiti, my native land dearly
My love for Haiti is unconditional
Tears are flowing in my eyes, I am sad
I feel helpless and hopeless and depressed
I can't do anything for Haiti, who needs her children
To be beautiful again and for a better tomorrow
Haitians, Haitians, stop stealing from Haiti. Stop robbing
Stop smashing, destroying, burning and spitting on Haiti
Stop selling Haiti to shady, sneaky and unscrupulous foreigners
And to low life countries, which harass, plot, exploit and hate
The Haitian people on a daily basis
Haitians, Haitians, open your eyes
Haitians, Haitians, open your heart
To love and to help the beloved Haiti
Haitians, Haitians, love Haitians
Unite as one body, one people and one soul
To love our fellow Haitians and good people who care about us
Haitians, stop dreaming, wake up, shape up, and get up
Stop sleeping, wake up, and get up, this is daytime
The sun is shining and blazing
The moonlight is bright and alive
Day and night every second of the day
When I think and talk about Haiti Cherie
I am very sad; tears inundate the creeks of my eyes
Tears are flowing in my eyes for Haiti again
Yet, there is plenty of hope for Haiti
Haiti has a bright future, as we pray for Haiti.
