Tentacles Of Terror Poem by Valsa George

Tentacles Of Terror

Rating: 5.0

When Faith turns fanatic,
When mind, like a sponge soaked in dogma,
When the lure of money overrides,
When reason is hoodwinked
With the promise of a Heaven in wait,

A terrorist is born!

He moves around armed with ammunitions
Joins other desperados with loaded guns n' bombs
Like horrendous beasts unleashed from the den
They lunge on rampage, with threats at gunpoint
Spewing hatred, hostility and horror

Boom....boom....boom

Guns roar, bombs blast, causing
Death, deformity and destruction
Leading to distress and doom
Streets reek with the smell of newly shed blood
Dead bodies pile, all around is carnage

Mushroom cloud rises high

Dark clouds hang on the horizon
In God's name violence is concocted
Frivolous ideologies kill lives of innocents
With the world turned into a battlefield
We are besieged by terrorists' sting

We need an escape from this inferno

Combined efforts alone can subdue
This formidable enemy of gigantic proportions
United shall we stay to get all wrongs right
And muster strength to catch the bull by its horns
To let the doves of peace take on wings!

I know the word 'frivolous' is quite weak there. For the time being, I cannot think of a better word. If you can suggest one, I will be so grateful. Your openness is much appreciated

What a wonderful poem! You have exposed terrorism for the lunacy which it is! Stay safe, Valsa!

In the first stanza you have vividly and incisively inscribed about the born of a terrorist who is the cause of masacre of innocent peoples. For the hankering of frivolous power and wealth terrorists come forward with ammunitions and applied over peoples horrendously. This type of activity must be seized. A brilliant poem is being shared on religion, terrorism. A 10

Powerful poem. Really made me feel how terrorists get born. It might just be out of desperation and failure in life.

(cont.) ...i like the alliterative title! ! YOU shall receive your escape from this inferno soon enough and be playing your harp and flapping your angel wings. i shall (perhaps) descend into a 'second inferno'.......where all the ice cream will be melted. but i can still enjoy it i hope. sorry to put a damper on any plans for a solution to violence, but if it isn't religious fanatics, it will be something else ruining lives for others. bri :) to MyPoemList.
