The Beauty Of Painted Stairs Poem by Sheena Blackhall

The Beauty Of Painted Stairs

Art has jumped from the easel, the frame, the wall
It has spilled into the street
It is climbing a Jacob's ladder of inspiration

Urban Art, a part of a town's outdoors
In Ottawa, Canada is a solitary toddler
Walking up the side of a husky's jowl

Salvador Dali's underfoot
In Philadelphia's Pennsylvania
Two students perch precariously
On his left moustache
A couple chat intensely on his nose

In Valparaiso, Chile,
A piano keyboard bizarrely ascends to the clouds
Tiny birds provide the background singers

Sao Francisco, California, the sunshine state
Has a kaleidoscope of a twining painted stairs
A riot of painted flowers, imagined plumage

Poznan, Poland has steps of colouring pencils
Tumbled from Gulliver'spockets
Paris, France, has a zingy cabaret singer
By Zag & Sìa, an anamorphic upwalk

In Seoul, South Korea,
Gigantic goldfish swim around the steps,
The steps that are blue as a Mediterranean sky
