The Crayon Picture Poem by Julius Lenaiyarra

The Crayon Picture

Rating: 5.0

Crawling, toddling, standing
Next to a table
On it, a blank paper
And a pack of crayons
Looking at it,
I was tempted to use.

At first, a doodle; a scribble
Painting the patches
In a manner but keenly
At a point, not really imagining
But at a point
Looked at the patches
And smiled as I kept it
Under the table.

Many years later, I took the doodle
No,the scribble
Joining the dots on it
The colour patches
It drew a picture
It is the crayon picture
Ahead of me as it was
The picture, an imprint
And there it was
It was the crayon picture of me
I moved forward, picked it
And saw my dream
Passionately walking forward
I embraced my dream.
