The Distance Between Us Poem by Silent Soliloquy

The distance between us is greater than
the miles that separate us; for we
both know that a love between
'May and December' can never be
a tale that ends in happiness.

The distance between us spans a gap that is
generational by its very nature; one you swear
can be bridged and conquered, for hasn't it
been said that 'love conquers all? '

The distance between us is so far reaching
in its scope, that while we may be fullfilled
for a time by our passion, those closest
to us cannot help but be consumed
in the wake of this inferno

The distance between us, despite my
objections, has only served to ignite
a determination in you to break down these
impenetrable walls of doubt that
keep me from your arms.

And so now, it would seem the only thing
standing in our way...
is the distance between us.
