I open my eyes one fine day,
To find myself hanging on a cliff at bay
I focus my mind on how I got there
But fail as if my memory wasn’t there
I find it hard to understand, How I ended in an accident
The earth seems moving, the sky seems falling
I thought to myself it was heaven calling
I prayed my last as breath seems to fade fast
I felt happy to be free, as it would end all my misery
My fingers slipped, my strength dipped
And I started falling off the cliff
I dropped faster and my head felt lighter
Like an untethered kite or a swift feather
I saw myself going down a gorgeous ravine
N I rose like smoke from campfire fine
How great it felt to shed the load I dealt
To feel light as a bubble n get rid of the trouble
I crash on the ground and stare up the sky
To see my life flickering by
Today I see how empty I have been
And know I cant come clean
I lay life deprived, I know I don’t have a reprieve
I close my eyes and the last of my breath slips by…….
One of the best ways Death can ever be defined. No one remembers how they arrived on to death.. Great work..
the idea of hanging from a cliff, falling, crashing on the ground is breath-taking when taken figuratively...Well done, Blossom, and keep it up. Is Blossom Mist your real name? It doesn't sound Indian...
A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with conviction. A lovely piece indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem THE PHOENIX STRANGLER.
I love this! My favorite lines are the earth seems moving, the sky seems falling and how I ended in an accident. keep writing!
this is a wonderful poem...I held my breath till the very end...even in life, I guess, one must let go sometimes, throw away the burden of living and just enjoy life the way it is...
