The Fool Was Me Poem by Emma Haze

The Fool Was Me

Once upon a time,
There was such a fool,
and the fool fell hard for you,

And fool thought, each moment spent,
was like a dream come true,
And the fool thought, she knew you,
that you loved her, even just a tiny bit,

Oh, the fool fell in love once upon a time,
then you left her, and nothing was fine,
Her heart and her soul died,
the day you walked out of her life.

Once upon a time,
A fool thought she'd survive,
without you by her side,
Oh, the fool is I, for beliving every lie,

I'm the fool, who fell in love with you,
I'm the fool, who didn't know the risk I was taking,
I didn't know, that you wouldn't care, that you'd be cheating,
I didn't know, that the risk of you and I, wasn't worth taking.

I was the fool, once upon a time,
But for once, I swear my eyes won't cry,
I was the fool, every single day and night,
I was the fool, who believed your every lie,

But the cruelest lie, wasn't on my side,
and when you opened your mouth, I couldn't deny,
The truth was that you never cared,
and oh, how the dream became unreal.

The fools dream came to an end,
when he walked out the door, never again to come in,
The fools dream, came crashing down,
as the fools heart, broke the minute he left her alone,

And right then and there, the fool wiped her tears,
with the back of her shaking hand,
And she looked up, with a look in her eyes,
She whispered 'No, for you I'll never cry, '
And from that moment on, she closed herself off deep inside,

And though the memories hurt, and though her eyes wanted her to cry,
And though her heart would weep, and though her soul felt like it was going to die,
The fool never again, lost track, she never let herself fall, again,
The fool died that night, and born was such a cynic.
