To ease away from the teared reflection of my own brokenness
I aim towards and beyond the level of my own sad existence
Lost within a limbo of mind like a petal deveined from one flower
Sublimely chasing time, day after day is done, hour after hour
I am merely mortal and will take deep to my earthenly ground
Among this species of understanding, alone in diversity of trust
Hiding behind the silent guise of this granite shadow’s ghost
Trying sadly to fill the empty space with art, not of icons lost
Eyes are bound and closed because the glare is unobtrusive
Oblivious to the harlequin who beckon for disquieting muses
For if I have to suffer through this ugly pain again unfulfilled
I feel I will lapse into the many deep winters darkest depths
Without an ounce of sleep, uncertain, staid and unreserved
Boiling the continents within my patience will melt my barriers
So there I will polish my pearly austerity to within a thin shell
And once there I will gather and bring my mountains to the sky….
With all my thoughts freely flowing upon the turbulent waters
Where I am left walking these lonely sand dunes of my mind
Standing unfirm against these not so gentle breezes blowing
Buried alive under the constantly shifting of the sands unkind
Never allowing it to be the same as it once had been before
Never saying what I see twice, but many different ways evermore…
So I turn the glass over and watch again as the sands fall
Creating a slow mound of fading memories for me to recall
One by one the sands are flowing like grains of days gone by
One by one the moments fall and there is no more time for goodbye
There is only but to awaken to a new day, that too will soon pass
I empty the grains of days gone by one by one from the hourglass
Some are coming, some are going, and some may never again be
And from these fleeting moments caught, I notice they are me…
And there within the temperance of my thoughts in the shade
I find that hope leaves me only just enough room to quietly fade
So I walk within my mind’s eye to reveal this sorry barren land
And forevermore I will drift with and beyond the ever shifting sand…
