The Lustre In Your Eyes Poem by Nontobeko Dlamini

The Lustre In Your Eyes

Rating: 5.0

When darkness slowly,
Yet pacefully,
Creeps over daylight
To the vastness of the horizon.
When the cold thieve
For the lustre in your eyes,
And you wake up from a frosted dream.
Take to my arms open,
To your body tremblin.
Sleep? Not me my love,
For my eyes, will be
Your lantern,
Glowing in the triumphing darkness,
Keeping you warm, the whole blessed night.
Take refuge in the fort of my arms,
For the rising sphere of fire,
Will crash and set in flames,
Burning the old and weary night,
To let the sparks,
Enkindle that dormant lustre
In your eyes,
For i have missed it.
