the poet


-the ancient and noble craft
to pen immense things and great events
in rigorous and disciplined effort
rightly to be honored, esteemed in many ways

-the combination of talent and hard-work
with imaginative and expressive words
the language neither of cosmopolitan nor of the folk
to surpass what's in the book; to uphold the ages,

-the experience and the way of life
to inspire the losing; to rouse the sleeping
in his method be the moral conscience of his age:
the artist; the seer; the other angel's wing

-the creed and the philosophy
of knowledge and wisdom, of faith and reason
from chaos to edifying order, tragic to sublime reality
in purposeful patterned luck in time and in season
