The River That Resides Underneath Poem by James Darwin Smith II

The River That Resides Underneath

Into the darkness
This light too dim to see
Voice, moot pointed
In a dialog
Where walls
Bounce back
Full frontal contact
To this face
Drenched with emotions
Feeling secluded
While feeling trapped
In these eyes
Mirroring frustrations

Imagination
The only place
That deems relevance
Downward upon lonely feelings
Of being nothing
But a ghost Haunting
Silent times

Do you see him?
Maybe for the best
If not for some kind of worse
Wearing a cloaking device
From the shrapnel of my soul

No worries
To me
I am strong
Solace comes
When least expected
The light has to shine, someday

For now
I am nobody
Who cares…?

Covered, emotionally safe
I cannot do this...

I think
Too much...
