The Sea Poem by Gordon Nye

The Sea

A single ship
I drift about
Without the wind
I'm full of doubt

Then comes a storm
And chaos falls
And then again
The wind just stalls

Still adrift
A floating fort
When will I
Arrive in port

My destination
I thought was clear
But in my heart
A present fear

I felt that I
Was missing out
I often fall
To cry and shout

The world around me
Is not my own
An empty promise
I would be shown

Why the struggle
Why the strife
What about
My desired life

Then I felt
A peace so calm
No longer with
A shaky palm

For it hit me now
It's meant to be
My forever love
My treasured sea

The life I lived
Has brought me here
A better man
I faced my fear

Without the port
I hear your voice
And in my heart
I feel rejoice

For on my course
I felt so blue
And now I know
It brought me you
