The Second Sun Poem by Abby Kimball

The Second Sun

There is a breathing,
A crack in the day,
When the sky is turning pink,
And the hours melt away

When I haven’t slept all night,
It still takes away my breath away
A dawn cotton candy delight,
Just a small piece of the day,

I am so lucky,
To wiggle a toe,
I am so happy,
Just to know,
That I have so much time to say,
And so many hours to melt away,

A crack in the window,
An eye can peak out of the cover,
Stars draped upon the sky just so,
With the moon hung over her,
The sun begins to rise,

There is a second,
When the sun begins to rise,
The minutes begin to slow,
When her arms stretch wide,

I am so satisfied,
To hear a hope,
I am so eager,
Just to know,
That I have so much time to say,
And so many hours to melt away,
