The Sunday Sojourn Poem by Somanathan Iyer

The Sunday Sojourn

Unknown happiness erupts from evening of Saturday
Thinking of the next day the rest day-Sunday
Mind kept busy marking things that are left undone
Plans are pepped out chalking out a whole chart

Saturday night synergies the mind and
body to new heights of laziness
Extra times spent on wining and dining
and hitting the bed at very late night

Buried are some tasks by the time we wake up
Drowsy feeling browsing the mind
Sipping the coffee having the breakfast
Reading the paper runs fast the time

Chart of tasks displayed in the mind half-heartedly
Branded quick some of them as unimportant
Sluggish afternoon surges ahead with a sip and a nap
Outing with beloved courting the pleasures completes the evening

Heart becomes heavy with night coming closer
Feel of guilt creeps the mind for works yet not attempted
Sails back the mood to catch the glimpse of previous night
Writhes the mind for hectic week to face the dawn of black Monday!

I truly enjoyed this write. When Friday comes the work week for most people comes to an end. Time is spent in bed sleeping wining and dining, relaxing, TV, and other pleasures. When Sunday comes we wind down and have yet to see if anything of value was accomplished. Sunday night brings on new concerns of will I survive through blue Monday. Time for change. Thanks
