The Temperature Of Your Love Poem by John W. McEwers

The Temperature Of Your Love

I am going home
because it's just too hot in here
from cigarette smoke
cigarettes and beer fumes
cigarettes and beer fumes and your body

it's ten till five
I slept off a hangover
I'm a handy man
construction remodel
drywall and roofing
on two hours sleep
come home sleep two more hours then get drunk

last night...no...
the night before last actually I didn't go out
first time in more than a month
but now I'm awake
and where are you?

I wanna be hot.
