The Traditional Biscuit Poem by Paula Glynn

The Traditional Biscuit

Rating: 5.0

The Jammie Dodger
With raspberry jam at its sweet heart
With gooey deliciousness in its centre
The biscuit sweetly and addictively crunchy.

The Ginger Nut
The spice of ginger: maybe with cinnamon added
Adding special spiciness to itself
Perfectly tasting spice on the tongue.

The chocolate digestive
Traditional with its British recipe
Around for well over a century
England with its old traditions including tea.

Rich tea biscuits
Perfect for dunking into the British cup of tea
A biscuit popular for good reason
The Rich Tea biscuit consumed in every season.

Short bread biscuits
Buttery and oh so sweet sold in Tesco
Thick and crunchy and delicious
Perfect when drinking a British cup of tea.

Custard creams
With a white buttercream centre
That explodes with flavour on the tongue
That everyone enjoys from old to young.

Every tasty biscuit tin sneakily opened
In the middle of the night
Sleepwalkers not wanting a fright
When you catch them eating your biscuits at night!
