The Wait Poem by Nitya Kannan

The Wait

A long wait
She knew to be
For it was ever
The inescapable fate
Could the Sun
The Moon
And the stars
Change this one
She ran with her anklets
A thumping in her chest
Return awaited
Of loves's droplets
When dust arose
On the path again
When horsemen
Vanquishing foes
He would come
So she kept waiting
As each day promised
Their story to become
Written around
Beautiful walls
Those spaces filled
With waiting sound
Maybe those tears
Came with the wait
She knew to be one
Of an inescapable fate's fears.
