The Word Walks Across Centuries

Rating: 5.0

The Word Walks
moves upon bridges
vibrating spun light.

Someone once said
Jesus Christ
could not come
centuries earlier
to speak the word
to inspire spread
his Gospel Message because...

Jesus Christ
born of
immaculate conception
human embodiment
of divinity
needed Roman Roads
to walk upon?

The Apostles his Disciples
needed Roman Roads?
To spread Gospel Teachings
parables taught by Jesus Christ?

Really?
Alexander the Great
needed no such roads
to conquer
an entire know
ancient world
new worlds beyond.

Alexander Companions
on horseback
his soldiers marching
in phalanx formation on foot
conquered faster further
than any other king military
leader in ancient world.

An invasion incorporating
scholars, map markers,
geologists, historians,
scientists of the day.

An invasion of military
conquest discovery learning.
Alexander needed
no paved Roman Roads.

Jesus needed no Roman Roads
to build bridges of light
spanning mountains
Himalayas of pagan belief;
to plant seeds
toppling an empire
of ancient slavery
atrocity barbarianism.

Roman Colosseum
abhorrent abomination crime scene;
nearly four atrocious centuries
of state sanctioned mass murder

millions of humans
animals slaughtered
entire continental species
speared into extinction.

Roman Colosseum
fell before the word of God;
divine catalyst of change
Telemachus an Egyptian monk

objected to bloodshed, savage slaughter,
shame of lust depraved entertainment.
In the name of his God Jesus Christ
shouted for cessations discontinuation...

standing between slashing swords
standing a monk in dark brown dress
holding up his hand to his One God
keeping back the blows in God’s name...

a leap of faint onto life
draining red sands
an arena of victorious death

stoned martyred by outraged mob
in three days Emperor decreed;
cessation of gladiatorial games.

From antagonistic
to pacifistic;
Christian religion
morals principles

values prevailed
the steps of St. Peter’s,
reused stones of
quarried Colosseum marble.
