There Is No End To The Longing

THERE IS NO END TO THE LONGING

There is no end to the longing
And no end to the poem.
The Life will end
The Darkness will come
But the poem
The poem will go on
And the longing with it
Elsewhere
Where only God knows.

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
