There Where You Are Poem by Gert Strydom

There Where You Are

(for Annelize)

There far away in Cape Town where you are,
even if some days are full of rain and grey,
there are between the rocks also geckos
and over the beach from the origin the waves wash,
the same white-hot sun burns the sky blue,
you are lonely like me when the wind strings its wind-harp
but at times I do wish that we were together
and I would have offered everything to now notice you,
even if some days are full of rain and grey.
