This Is Our World Poem by Ashley Mejia

This Is Our World

Rating: 5.0

Didn't families once stand together?
Promise to stand hand-in-hand forever?
Now our generation stands in isolation.
A kind of family of our invention.
Hundreds of kids abandoned.
Thousands more forgotten.

A stranger in their home,
And never going to be any more.
A shadow on the wall
No one taught them how to stand tall.
No one told them that they'd be okay,
Hold them until the world simply melted away.

Every child wants to be loved
Every child wants to be hugged.
Every child deserves to live a life
Not for survival to be a constant fight.

Why do we let our youth stand alone?
Why do we push them into an unfair world?
Why don't we realize,
That nothing can erase that pain.

Didn't we once stand united?
When did we start caring more about pride?
What happened to love?
Is it really all gone?

Didn't families once stand together?
Promise to stand hand-in-hand forever?
Now our generation stands in isolation.

I love this one... stands for nothing but truth... its heartaching to see the way children are discarded as if they are pieces of garbage.. the world is an unfair and scary place, its a 'make or break' world, and no matter how strong you are sometimes it still manages to take you down.... great poem 10
