A Mere Thread Poem by Ashley Mejia

A Mere Thread

Falling in the black
Slowly slipping into the cracks
Crying out, screaming out
It’s a pain I can't take
Making its way to my heart,
Killing me over and over again.
So alone
A mere thread of a soul,
Inside this shell I call my own.
Whispers in my head
Nothing will make them go away.
It's in me,
Releasing its poison within me.
Cleanse me, remake me.
This thread will soon break.
No strength left
In a hell of my own
Whispered taunts in my head
Can't hold on
Don’t let me go.
