This Year Christmas (Italian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

This Year Christmas (Italian Sonnet)

Rating: 5.0

This year Christmas time for me is lonesome,
I am forced to spend it without you,
while still my love for you do remain true.
You are with yours and I on my own-some.

I pray that on Christmas day you will come,
I ask God to things in your life to do;
why you do not want me I have no clue,
numb I wish all good things you to become.

People are destitute in need around me,
some have lost everything, are without hope,
while others care for themselves and their own;
I pray for my country, it better to be,
where around me dilapidation has its scope;
that God will act, His goodness will be known.
