To My Forever Valentine Poem by Leslie Alexis

To My Forever Valentine

One day is not enough to express my love for you
So too, my love, February is too short a month,
I would need forever and a day to master this love -
Eternity to cherish, caress and care for you.

Fresh bouquets beautiful - true, are frail in your presence,
Orchards and Eden’s plains of petals too are unworthy.
And to Heaven's candy, I cannot give measly candies,
Sweet of sweets, sugar you are. Presents like diamond’s

And ruby’s and sapphire’s and the pearl’s glitter cannot
Mirror your own. Princesses and princes and queens and kings
Ought willingly to give to you their thrones. Even so
I willingly give my life, to share with you in forever

Love... In faith, I on this day kneel before you,
Wanting no more to belittle you with titles like
Girlfriend, best friend or friend… So on my life
And on my knees humbly I ask, “Will you be my wife”?

With your yes,
And with a kiss,
Let us begin our perpetual Valentines…
