Now that your promises have gotten you elected,
Please don't forget why you have been selected.
It wasn't for your honesty or for your courage.
Sorry to be the one to have to discourage.
It wasn't for your strong values and morality,
Sorry to dump on you a heavy dose of reality.
It wasn't for your intelligence or skills at articulation,
Sorry that's something that isn't done in our nation.
It wasn't for your leadership or charismatic prowess,
Sorry there isn't anything to offer you any solace.
It wasn't for your incredible vision or pragmatism.
Sorry not in this land of bureaucratic dogmatism.
Surely, you of all people know the real reason,
especially since not knowing is borderline treason.
You've been selected and elected to keep things as they are:
Fantastic for some people and for the rest far below par.

Interesting poem. And who will the future president be, do you think?
