Trial Poem by Zolani Nkomo

Trial

I Need Her Around
Every Time I Try Lift Off
She Pulls Me To The Ground
Reminds Me Who I Am
Keeps Me Deep Rooted
But The Truth Is
I Don't Root Here
So She Has It All Wrong
But I Won't Let Her Know
I Kind Of Like Having Her Here
She's The Only Thing About Me
That Challenges My Self Awareness
Am I Really This?
She inspires me
Antagonises me
She's my satan
Or maybe she's my God
You see she has me not knowing who I am
Firmly to the ground I take my stand
Grip tightly preparations for when I become a man
This is why I keep her around
I feel I have to prove something
And still prove nothing
The type of hate any man could use
She is loves enemy and lifes muse
