Twin Lights Poem by Kate Meyer

Twin Lights

Moon and Sun meet, merge together, becoming as one for a time
Then Moon separates, leaving Sun to stand alone
The two powers, solo and distant again both illuminate the sky and
bathe the land in their soothing light

As one's reign comes to an end, the other readies to begin
Each power taking its turn to rule the sky, as
it has been since the beginning of time

Dusk and dawn the small window in between,
where Moon and Sun exchange a glance and a
slight bow of respect

Hidden ties, so easily over looked
thought of as different but in truth the same
Two sides of one coin, the yin and yang of sky
One ruling at night and one ruling at day

Continuing their eternal dance:
day after day
week after week
Till the time comes
when Moon and Sun will be as one
once again
