Unconditional Love For Universal Peace Poem by Jyoti Patil

Unconditional Love For Universal Peace

Mounting on two thoughts negative and positive
Tussling between two lines black and white
Grappling with two divergent ideas violence and non-violence
Tackling with two dividing lines war and peace,

Floating between two opposite emotions happiness and sorrow
Basking on two different notions forgive and revenge
Banking on the bandwagon of caste, creed, and colour,

What is more appealing?
What is more favoured?
What do we want our society to be?
A place of peace and harmony?
Or a ground of grinding grudges and destruction?

Ideologically we all support all positive concepts
Wish to live peacefully, with love and contentment,
Where love only prevails and no hatred avails
But when it comes to practice what do we do?

Burn public property to show our dissent,
Resort to violence to settle scores,
Inflict pains and agony to opponents,
Spread ill-will and enmity,
Feeling of jealousy without any remorse,
It's high time that we begin to follow

What did king Ashoka learn?
Through a long bloody war of Kalinga,
To shun material pleasure,
To seek the spirit of winning hearts,
What did Lord Buddha, Lord Mahavir, Jesus Christ follow?
What did Mohammad, Shri Krishna, Gurunank Dev preach?
To spread love and peace, unconditional love,
To live in harmony and happiness,
That's the only divine solution.
