War Horse Poem by Sally Plumb Plumb

War Horse

Rating: 5.0

I know I am
destined to die soon,
so run my lover,
run my war horse,
toss your haughty head
and freely run.

I'll never hold you now,
And how I want you,
how I need you.
Your speed is fast,
outclassed I am.

So you shame me
with your beauty,
your wing'ed feet
are fleet in clouds.
Bled of my heart
I lose you to heaven
Forever and ever
I love you,
Never, never
can I hold you
in eternity.

So I die.

Despite the tragedy of Death here, there is a victorious adoration of this lover that makes it an uplifting poem.

you've certainly captured the sorrow of loss and heartache, very well expressed. An effective penning. tfs
