We Wanna Vote For You! Poem by Ramona Thompson

We Wanna Vote For You!

Rewrite of Whitney Houston's I Wanna Run To You

I know

Somehow I gotta make this matter to me

There's so much good

We feel in America

We've yet to see

Oh if only these politicians would only take the time

I believe maybe in my heart

They would find

Americans ache not to be scared

All the time

We need leaders that are strong

Can't you just once listen to me?

Why must I and my fellow Americans always feel so alone?

Chorus

We wanna vote for you (ooh)

We wanna vote for you (ooh)

Won't you address our concerns

And keep our great nation safe from any worse harm

We wanna vote for you

(ooh)

But if we vote for you

Tell us

Will you be our saviors or simply let us all rot away?

Each day, each day we search for someone to fill the role

Someone to take control

But at night we come home and turn on the tv

There's only more bad news there

It so depresses me

What's the use of trying hard for our American dreams?

Without someone tough to share them with

Tell us

What do all your broken promises mean?

Chorus

We need you here

We need you here

Working daily

On our behalf

To ease American's fears

To dry our children's endless tears

If you only knew how much

Chorus
