When Darkness Goes Away Poem by Dorsey Baker

When Darkness Goes Away

Rating: 5.0

A few moments
of happiness
out of so many years
of sadness
he thinks to himself
you have made
such a mess
of your life
following a life
of lust
instead of responding
to his better judgement
he goes over to the table
turns on the lamp
floods the room with light!
the darkness goes away
then he pours a glass of vodka
drinks a few shots
with lightning speed
hoping to
bring darkness back!

A vicious circle, life goes from happiness to sadness, light and darkness, and true enough, drink will bring us darkness more than giddiness..

Familiarity of a somber mood reinvoked by a drink.
