When Tears Are Your Words Poem by Amelia Murray

When Tears Are Your Words

Stars are bright in a moonless sky.
Grass frosty in the early morning dew
The ocean water is lapping the sand
as if it will never see it again

Shells roll back and forth
unable to decide which lover suits them.

A wolfs cry startles the birds,
its searching for its lost mate.
The sound of their wings
like beating hearts aching

A content breeze gently plays with the leaves
Caressing them lovingly

Walking from the grass to the sand
the textures are different
both bring their own feelings
and their own misfortunes.

Tears are your natural words
when you lack them

The sun rising slowly over the waves
like it has done for a million years before
a constant unchanging ritual
The beauty of stability

It rose when you were standing here
and now it is rising without you

Your memories still remain
but even those will fade with every setting sun
but my heart will remember you
until the sun rises no more
