Where They Used To Be Poem by Matt Mercer

Where They Used To Be

The young man, and the young woman
Seemed as content as they could be
Finding a whole new world together;
Just to be free
A place no one else could go
A place for no one else to know
Setting aside their burdens
Ready to flee
Just to lie side by side
Where they used to be

And once they got there
A heavenly place you could say
But as long it was far away
Their undying love, could never sway
Here, it would never rain with tears
And the sun would shine
Through all the fears
The clouds passed overhead
Leaving the sky so clear
And hate, would be nowhere near

In their eyes, there was a sign
Something telling them, that now was the time
For their hearts to intertwine
Where no else could see them
Or feel the feeling,
They would always get
When they could see the moon
With their heartbeats, perfectly in tune
Time stood still, for as long as it should
Waiting…

…for as long as it could
