Under The Delusion Poem by Matt Mercer

Under The Delusion

The sun will rise,
Under this white cover
But will it set by,
By the early summer
He’s got nowhere to run
He’s got nowhere to hide
He’s up there laughing
Rolling to his side

The people walk below me
Walking through the fear
I hold my breath so tightly
Just before they near
Time enjoys his standing still
Time enjoys his little game
But if preached a different story
He’d certainly lose his name

The leaves don’t lose their colour
Just before they sleep
Slowly falling to the ground
And die without a peep
Red and yellow they remain
Red and yellow under the orange sky
They are unable to speak
Of a reason or wonder why

The mountains reach their limit
At least for the time being
Preaching out their wisdom
To those who are left dreaming
Heaven used to be here
Heaven used to stay
Straight across the skyline
No harm could come its way

Under the delusion
I may as well be
For if I am deluded
What truly do I see?
