Which Do 'You' Prefer? Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Which Do 'You' Prefer?

Which do 'you' prefer?
The ignorant or the intelligent?
The street or the highbrow?
With or without higher consciousness?

Either way,
You will still have to come to face me.
And I could care less what you wear,
To masquerade your scent.
Whether you are blocked by radiance,
Or coming from a distance!

In ballrooms or shooting pool...
A fool never loses his or her tastes,
For flavored lowlife!
And many sides of the 'game'
I've been trained to play well!
So be careful what you call me.
I might not like your diction!
