Wishes To Be Somewhere Else Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Wishes To Be Somewhere Else

What more can possibly be said.
To a people,
Neither listening to understand.
Nor pretending to comprehend.
With that to do,
Giving eye contact...
As if to know something,
About how to show respect.

But will prove in groups,
Rude and childish attitudes...
Who best can deliver,
A lack of initiative.
Or an incentive that motivates,
One thought to have that indicates...
Thinking independently.
Even on occasion to do this done.
Without finding this process a necessity.
To refuse to hear,
What is being said by anyone.

What more can be said.
To a people brain dead.
Undisciplined and never taught,
To give undivided attention.
Or sit to make believe,
Something about respect they know.
With it to spell and define.
Without having someone,
Wishing with it wanted...
To share valuable information.
But left to be made believed,
They are the one...
Out of their mind to waste the time.

What more can possibly be said.
To a people,
Neither listening to understand.
But will prove,
Whenever to gather in adult groups.
Their attention to give,
Is in a sharing of misunderstanding.
To then claim comprehension,
Of what was not said.
But will argue with each other,
Over what they heard.
Yet...
To not one of them mentioned.
By anyone within listening distance!

"Excuse me.
Yeah you.
With the microphone.
Didn't you just say...
Everyone has their own opinion.
And opinions should be allowed.
But not always accepted to approve of them? "

-No!
You misunderstood the topic.-

"I did what? ? ?
I did not misunderstand one thing.
In fact...
While you were talking,
We were discussing exactly what you said.
Until you started giving your opinion,
About listening to others...
Who stay with spouses they should divorce.
And I don't have a marriage like that."

-Trust me.
My topic had nothing to do,
With your personal issues.-

"Then...
Why are you here?
And...
What is it that your talking about? "

-Wishes to be somewhere else.-

"Oh!
My 'bad'.
Well...
You need to speak louder.
Because I can't hear one word you're saying."
