[wo]/Man Poem by Negar Gorji

[wo]/Man

Rating: 5.0

"A little blue fairy
Living in an ocean, "
Sighing as a broken flute
Which deafens all the scallops.
Dreaming of an equal land
Where women are without Wo
And men are plus Wo

In search of a kiss
To live eternally
To find the equal land,
Going to the surface
To hunt a Wo/man

But sharp lips of shovels
Wound her heart,
The blue ocean
Gets red -And red -And red.

She is lying there
She is lying..
She is..
She..
sh..
Now, listen to the sigh of scallops.

Such a beautiful poem. The sounds of the words and the way you break them apart, join them back together, and then reform them. This is poetry. I enjoyed the sounds as much as the images and messages. You have a wonderful gift. Thank you Negar. Pam(Jette)

WOW (as we say in English when words fail us!) This poem is so poignant and sincere, and makes me recognize values deep inside me which are identical to those that animate your poem. I appreciate and applaud your lack of expressed anger, although it would be justified. Instead I sense a long-standing sadness over the inequality you want to replace with a healthy equality that will enhance gender relationships. Your poem is an invitation for women and men to find and inhabit a region of mutual respect and absolute equality. It is also a summons for like-minded people to join together to achieve this blessed lifestyle. Shakespeare express this goal very eloquently when he referred to A MARRIAGE OF TRUE MINDS. His metaphor applies not just to a formal marriage but also gender relations in society, in the workplace, in entertainment activities, and most especially in FRIENDSHIPS between men and women. You can tell your poem has touched me deeply. It is a necessary poem for our current worls society.
