WRITTEN ON THE WIND
I look up in the morning, above the cool green leaves,
Through the branches, there, they take my eyes,
There's something in my heart and mind I scarcely can believe
I notice clouds, that look like you and I...
Floating in the sea of sky, I study these a while,
Our image changes, passes with the time,
There you're holding outstretched arms, giving me that smile,
Then disappear before you're held in mine...
I lie back and it comes again, and slowly passes over,
And in each set of clouds, I see your face,
As I lie back for the hours, my back against the clover,
I dream of all the years we shared this place...
Returning here, I catch a glimpse of long and distant past,
Each gust of wind will change the things I see,
And with each new and passing cloud, another scene is cast,
Each memory I hold of you, and me...
Our whole lives float slowly by, as I watch overhead,
Soon to fall to deep, and saddened dreams,
Suddenly I hear your voice, so clear inside my head,
Reliving all the love we'd had, it seems...
Opening my eyes, I can see you standing there,
But soon you're gone, and it tortures me again,
In the yellow of the sun, I can see your golden hair,
I look away, and think of us back then...
When we had come to love this place, a cool and gentle meadow,
The springtime we once knew is shining down,
As I gaze up, remembering whispers lost in shadow,
From clouds that cover me, here on the ground...
Now I think a lot of this, it dominates my days,
My nights are spent just waiting for the morning,
So I can see the many memories, change a thousand ways,
The sunrise brings them back, in dawns calm warning...
So I can wake to memories, written on the wind,
Your sweet smile I see in every cloud,
The long warm summer days, I never want to see them end,
I hear myself, 'I love you' said out loud............
