What do you think this poem is about?

Y..... Knowing Ourselves

Whenever I think I know myself
Something happens that makes me doubt
I do know a bit about myself
I set out my own principles
Principles I love, I want to live by
But then so often I fail

Why do I fail?
Which part of us fails?
Which part of us sets the principles?
I think I can experience my soul,
Am I my soul?
Is my soul owning my mind, my heart, my body?

Why does my soul not take charge all the time?
My heart and mind seem to have to search
To search so intensely for my soul
to put my big ego aside
Is my ego competing with my soul?
It seems to be never quiet
Why my soul does not compete harder?

And then my thoughts, flying coming in, going out
I have written them down.
If I read my thoughts from the past
I feel I get to know myself a bit better
'cause thoughts come from the mind
They come from the soul, from the heart
And yes, also from the ego.

The ending is superb as is the entire poem. Writers read to enhance their
knowledge and their craft. We tend to be more flexible and open to new ideas
and beliefs, perhaps our failings are the way we correlate new beliefs to harmoniously
blend with old. A great thought provoking piece of work.

It's hard to really know ourselves...we thought we are but in depth we are not there yet...that's why we always learn about ourselves everyday and every single moment, good or bad....till the end of our days we still learning self, life and meaning. Soul is not to hold that easy, it's like semi state where when are in half conscious we may feel it, other wise we will maximize the feeling by physical senses and emotion, to please and protect physical state..while our souls are protecting the smallest art in our thinking, faith and emotions...We will keep learning we will gaining a lot of thing and complete puzzle of self_Unwritten Soul

The human body and soul is so complicated, I feel the longer I live, the less I know about it. a fantastic thought searching poem

In terms of our spiritual evolution, we are not as yet fully integrated and therefore these aspects of the self operate independently. I think in this write you are questioning this. Good one.
