You Just Can'T Cut It Anymore Poem by David Thomas

You Just Can'T Cut It Anymore

i always knew you were getting worse
more and more all the time,
these things tend to go the same ways
If i had known how bad it was
i might of said something long ago,
but as these things tend to go,
you only know the truth when it's too late to act
I watched you fall from the mountains you lived on
into the grimy swamps that scum surface from,
of course it wasn't your fault
He pushed you off knowingly
and watched you fall,
so as (in my mind) to bring us better up
All the while we kept saying
it will always be worse,
what about now?
when he can't even write a paragraph
without the use of a book,
and some long term memories
from an era long ago.
where do we go from here?
as these things tend to go,
we never know until we know.
