Your Love Is Like The Cold Side Of The Pillow Poem by David Thomas

Your Love Is Like The Cold Side Of The Pillow

Tossing and turning away
the race begins as the world drifts away,
you come you go
you are never here but
you are always here,
finding you brings such peace to my soul
and losing you brings such discomfort
that i might as well have lost the war,
if you would only stay
just a few minutes longer,
i could drift away blissfully
and sleep all night long
Unlike those times in your hands,
I do not fear to sleep this time
for no one will come and wake me
or tell me that i do not belong,
for never have i belonged as much
as i do inside of your arms
resting,
gently on the cold side of the pillow
resting,
on the embodiment of your (our) love,
goodnight.
