Kathleen J. Shields Poems

There are Angels God puts on this Earth
Who care for us and guide us.
You can feel their love and gentleness
as they walk through life beside us.
...

There is something about you, something in your soul
something that seems to surround your fishing pole….
...

I’ve wanted just to tell you a few things you ought to know
I’m doing pretty good now, I’m better than so-so.
I think the guilt has passed me, I’m sleeping now at night
I’ll forever - ever miss you, but I know I’ll be alright.
...

Through thick and thin, through good and bad
Through every day you’ve made me glad
When I was sitting at the end of my rope
Your encouraging words gave me hope

I received this poem in an email and it enticed me to write an additional poem to go along with it. The first poem is:

ODE TO TEXAS - Author Unknown
...

While there is nothing that I can say to help you ease your sorrow,
take comfort in the knowledge that there will always be tomorrow.

I can not comprehend just how sad you must be feeling,
...

She’s a wonderful woman so full of love;
she’s a joy to be around too
But before the first drink she’s not quite that way,
like she doesn’t know what to do.
...

When I came to you, you did not listen
You shrugged your head and kept dismissing
All my worries, fears and doubts
To you were unknown whereabouts
...

Surrounded by a crowd
So much to see and do.
So many happy faces,
Like being in a zoo.
...

My life was about living, every day about the same.
Nothing special to report, because He didn't know my name.
I was lonely and quite hungry, though I didn't know what for.
‘Cause I hadn't been to church, so I didn't know the Lord.
...

I am a prayer bear and this is what I do
I help give God’s love especially to you
If you need a small hug or a great big embrace
I’ll always be here to put a smile on your face
...

Your birthday falls on flag day, and that makes sense to me
Since you worked proudly for our country, from sea to shining sea
Your work it did make history, the books they will proclaim
So it makes sense to me your birthday would bring you so much fame
...

I know what you are feeling, I’ve felt it too my love
Our mother’s are now in heaven, looking down from above.
The sadness you are feeling, I know it is profound
And I know how hard it is, when others are around.
...

Rolling thunder the waves crashing in,
a light on the crest reminds me of when
whispering daydreams so vivid and bright
with in my dreams a miraculous sight.
...

It’s been 6 months since the funeral
Seems like only a week
2.5 years since our last fight
Why again couldn’t we speak?
...

She was a complicated woman
Emotions led her here
She loved her cats and nature
She loved to feed the deer.
...

Friendships like a two-way street without a passing lane
You can only go so fast and you really can’t complain
Friendships like those railroad tracks without a schedule
You never know when the train will come, and you’re almost out of fuel
...

18.

I sit here on the couch and watch TV
Sometimes it’s the only thing there is for me
Fore when you’re gone there’s nothing here
But an empty void and a drying tear
...

Peety died and then I cried
I feel like such a fool
Instead of staying with him
I hung out by the pool
...

I thank the Lord for blessings He’s bestowed within the years
From the joys of daily wonders to the sorrows and the tears
He’s guided me and helped me along life’s narrow lane
And now it is my turn, please, let me explain:

Angels Are Mothers

There are Angels God puts on this Earth
Who care for us and guide us.
You can feel their love and gentleness
as they walk through life beside us.

They do great things for us every day
they whisper in our ears,
they even hold us in their hearts
when we are filled with all our fears.

They are always there to give a hug
and try to make us smile.
They treat us with respect and love,
they treat us like their child.

God blessed me with an Angel,
I’m proud to call my own.
She’s been with me throughout my
life, been with me as I’ve grown.

She’s guided me the best she can,
she’s taught me like no other,
and I’m thankful I’m the lucky one
who get’s to call her... MOTHER
