I found the best part of me
all alone in the dark
half dead and barely conscious
shivering in an now disused playground
wrapped up in a long forgotten memory
abandoned in the bleak coldness of my history
What happened to it was long forgotten
none were there who would remember it well
all I know was that it was lost
and quite by chance was it rediscovered
The recovery was difficult and not the quickest
but certain people were there to the end
NCB I will thank you forever
your tears helped heal old wounds from long ago
I know that you did not make them by your own hand
but grateful am I for your assistance in their sealing
I found the best part of me months later
standing enjoying the sunshine
surrounded by those who care
fully alive and in the present
I can even see it’s smile
as it walks with me towards the future
Wonderful poem John. I love this poem, it gets close to your heart, saddens a bit, then brings happiness to light. RoseAnn
