A Poem For A Father Poem by Lauren SCH

A Poem For A Father

Rating: 5.0

Emptiness is what I feel,
It rules my life
Of course there are some good days,
Some days where I can smile,
But the feeling goes away,
Then I’m left vacant inside

What you did to me,
Has scarred me mentally inside,
Where you could have watched me grow up,
Instead of seeing me cry

For the years I cannot make up for,
For my depression I can’t take away
I want you to know,
That you got what you wanted,
I hear you everyday,

Screaming,
Screaming at my pain,
Bleeding it into unconsciousness’,
“Please Mum, make it go away”

So what did you think this poem was about?
How I was upset that you were here and still you weren’t around?
Now I will finally tell you,
Not that I have given up, but that I have resigned,
Resigned, from my sister and I, being your only peace of mind

I hope I never see your face again,
Never see that fate behind those eyes,
A fate for a dead man,
One who never tried.

Lauren, this is such a sad and heartfelt poem. I was lucky to have a loving father and I miss him every day so it's hard to imagine what you are going through. God Bless! A '10! ' Keep writing and sharing. Warm Wishes, Marilyn
