[This is my Italian translation of 'Keeping Things Whole' by Mark Strand]
.
'Tenere le cose insieme'
In un campo
Io sono l'assenza
del campo.
È
sempre così.
Ovunque io sia
Sono ciò che manca.
Quando cammino
sposto e separo l'aria
e sempre
l'aria rientra
a riempire lo spazio
che il mio corpo occupava.
Tutti noi abbiamo motivi
per muoverci.
Io lo faccio
per tenere le cose insieme.

'Keeping Things Whole' - (Mark Strand)
In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.
When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
where my body's been.
We all have reasons
for moving.
I move
to keep things whole.

Both poems are very beautiful. I think I understood most of the Italian before looking at Mark Strand's original. I love the sound of Italian and read it out loud several times. A beautiful rhythm. And Mark's poem is a very fine piece of work too. Tom Billsborough
Hi Tom, grazie per il commento! molto gentile. Indeed, Mark Strand's poem has a bright deep meaning
I also translated this fine poem, into French, a couple of years ago. I got to like Mark Strand's poems very much.
yes, Mark Strand's poetry is a very good one. Hope my Italian translation of his 'Keeping Things Whole' is not too bad.. :)
