A Voice For Girls Poem by Sarah Ali

A Voice For Girls

Rating: 5.0

I am so tired of seeing what I see everyday,
And so it bounds me to say
Everywhere I turn,
a part of my soul starts to burn
Seeing girls murdered in the name of honor killing,
Wives beaten by drunkards for a single shilling.

I see them constantly hurt,
Treated as if pieces of dirt,
In tranquil times or even wars
They are burnt, hung and even more,
Sold, beaten and raped,
Unfairly accused and stabbed.

Boys, favoured and sent to school,
Enjoying freedom and a life very cool
With all their pride
While on the other side
Girls aren't even provided with better education
Oh! I am so sick of this discrimination!

Not caring about our feelings sometimes
Oh yes! All they do is make us miserable most of the times
But now no more, it's time to take action,
No more living a life for a man's satisfaction
We will raise our voices now
This cruelty of yours we no more allow.

Fighting to hold this unhappiness at bay
To make sure we're no more your easy prey,
No more playing, those silenced females,
We're out of your hatred's jails
Trying to belittle us, push us down?
In this barbarianism we will not drown.

Rather we'll wear our freedom's crown
Got to do it ourselves coz you are so blind!
To all this violence around and let me remind
We aren't the animals of caves,
Or some runaway slaves
And don't say that you condemn it!

If so, why no reactions, no replies?
To our heartbreaking sighs, our painful cries
No more will we let the Fair Sex be stigmatized,
No more will our worlds be colonized,
No more mothers victamized of domestic violence
There must be an end to this turbulence.

There must be some balance,
Standing at your face, strong and alive,
Courageous enough to survive,
From now on we will share the power equally
To prove that we are now free
We are now free....

A powerful write on women empowerment. Your voice is loud n clear. Gender discrimination is a sore subject. This is a bold poem that gives voice to the poor helpless women in rural, tribal n in some parts of urban areas who don't enjoy the rights as we do, being fortunate enough to be born in educated urban environment.
