Blink Poem by Brady Scott

Blink

Rating: 2.5

Boy girl meet, boy girl date. Blink.
They fall in love, the girl is late. Blink.
Married with child now and on with life. Blink.
He works hard, she mother and wife. Blink.

The child is five and starting school. Blink.
Now fifteen and playing the fool. Blink.
Girl now woman is growing tired. Blink
Boy now man is no longer hired. Blink.

Two furrowed brows twenty years on. Blink.
All the love and child have gone. Blink
Boy now man hates his life. Blink.
Girl now woman no longer wife. Blink.

Old woman in winter, old man in grave. Blink.
Old woman recalls the mistakes that were made. Blink.
Old woman lies down with tears in her eyes. Blink
Old woman drifts off never again to rise.
