Blink Of An Eye Poem by Ridah Ellahi

Blink Of An Eye

Rating: 5.0

The birds chirped.
The sun laughed.
In the blink of an eye,
It all passed.

The moon gave light.
The clouds showed their might.
Then the darkness took over,
Blocked it all out of sight.

You, who are with me,
Say you know me inside out.
Claim you know what I’m thinking,
Beyond the trace of a doubt.

Seems as if the dark has taken you over,
Taken your ability to see.
Or maybe trying to give me an opportunity,
To run away….to flee.

But now I’m done running.
I won’t flee away.
I am holding my ground.
Not leaving….I will stay.

You say you know me,
I thought I knew the world too.
Looks can be deceiving.
It will prove itself to you.

You can’t see the tears,
Behind this smile.
The fear I’m living in,
Oh! It has been a while.

I am like an open book,
But the pages are blank.
Like an empty canvas,
Waiting for a sketching hand.

Even if you know me,
You won’t know me for long.
In the blink of an eye,
I, too, will be gone.
