Breaking Ties Of Abuse Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Breaking Ties Of Abuse

Life left to die on heaps of abuse, no longer wanting to go on
anymore, finding the strength to break ties of abuse that have
been binding for so long.

Now facing the truth of the situation, there never was any love
between us, being raped, thinking I was at fault, now knowing
that it wasn't.

Finding self still pure and innocent for it was only the one
who raped that was at fault, going forward alone, no more
strings binding, free at last from all the abuse.

Able to breathe and walk away for the life I was supposed
to have led all along, future brighter than ever before,
looking forward to a life of peace and serenity, alone,
yes, but free to be who I have always been.
