When a child's eyes open
At night, looks around the bed...
Teddy bear winking back with
Black, button eyes...rattles,
Clothes covering the quiltlet,
Cheerios clutched in sleepy fingers,
All is all right...
All is as should be...
Wall covered with Tigger posters,
Scooby Do, Santa, a horse or two.
The door is open...
Night light glowing...
A shadow stops by the window...
Waves hello, waves 'sleep tight'.
Passes silently past...
The child sleeps, happy.
Hush. Hush, little one...
It is only the Tree Soul
Wandering in it's mantle...
Making sure your dreams
Are sweet.
Very lovely. Every child should have a tree soul to give it reassurance. Shine on, elysabeth. Warmest regards, Sandra
Absolutely wonderful, A cornucopia of images of a child's secure world free of threats or fear. A perfect marriage of language and content.
And this is as sweet as an innocent child.. I love the title, wherever did you come up with that? ? ? I picture my grandsons, one in a bed, the other a crib, snug as bugs in a rug....one with his blankie and binky [youngest one] and the other with lammie, a little white lamb I gave him as a newborn....This is absolutely grand...Knowing my daughter and who raised her [ahem] there would be no cheerios in the bed.....heehee.............marci.xo

A lilting lullabye of a piece - soothing, reassuring and filled with music and magic of make-believe. Love it. Allie xxxxxxxxxxxx
